Matteson, along with the recently completed Melrose Common, was featured on Los Angeles Times in a discussion about co-living in Los Angeles.
The article explores the recent trend of co-living, an urban housing type that introduces shared, furnished apartments to help meet a projected deep demand in Southern California.
Residents in a co-living complex typically have their own bedroom and bathroom but share kitchens, living rooms and other common areas with fellow tenants. It’s a small but growing segment of the apartment market, mostly serving young professionals who can’t afford the rent in hip, desirable neighborhoods.
Bittoni Architects has been working with Common, New York-based co-living operator, and its Los Angeles partner Proper Development to design and plan for several more co-living apartments in the city of Los Angeles.
